What's happened to the plain old bloke ?

The latest fad in today's world is being gay.

I realised that recently when I met an old friend of mine. Being gay is no more taboo as it was a few decades ago. In times of Shakespeare being gay would have got you hanged in many parts of the world ! Even in the early twentieth century being gay was looked down upon......
Well, things have changed.

The person I am referring to was a dear friend of mine since childhood. Due to some issues we shifted town when I was a kid and I lost touch with him. Recently when we moved back, I was taken aback when I was told that he swings the other way ! It was certainly something that hit me in the face like an anvil.

When I met him, my assumptions were asserted. He was wearing a tight light pink tee and was dressed in tight,butt-hugging jeans. He had almost crossed over and the only thing that was amiss was a skirt.

In reality I am not against being gay, but I just feel very uncomfortable in their company. The very thought that they might just be checking me out gives me the chills. As I spoke with him, I realised that being gay had its own advantages.

Firstly, no straight bully would pick on you.
Secondly, you are almost always in the company of girls. Being gay gives them a false sense of security being with you.
Thirdly, you are never criticised for your dressing sense.

The number of men swinging the other way has gone up radically. My question is what has happened to the plain old bloke ?

Most of the guys (atleast in my city) are either metrosexual or gay. Being different is 'in'.

To be absolutely honest I hate this concept. Being normal is now been looked down upon. Guys are now discussing about manicures and pedicures more than sport. Wearing the right clothes and waxing hadn't been this important ever before !

What is wrong with everyone ? Even as this global change sweeps by me, I can't help but cry. Gone are the days when I could wear whatever I wanted and talk freely about girls, sports and cars. Today, personal grooming comes first.

As I write this article I realise that people like me are a dying breed. Maybe I'm an endangered species. Maybe I'm the last of my kind.

All I'm trying to say is that guys must start acting like guys..................or else the battle of the sexes will finally be won.
C'mon guys, please remember that we wear the pants around here !!

The Ga-ga over terrorism......

Being a 21-st century Indian, you have to be accustomed to terror attacks and bomb blasts. The nation seems almost indifferent to the terrorists antics.
9/11 was a landmark day in the history of terrorism..........Osama Bin Laden become the world's most hated figure since Hitler and the 'War on Terrorism' was unleashed.

Dubya launched attacks into Afghanistan and Iraq. Madrid, London and Mumbai became terror targets. But after almost eight years Bin Laden still remains at large.

Last week the Indian capital of Delhi was shaken by 5 bomb blasts. All were planted by a group of fanatics who call themselves the 'Indian Mujahideen'. Yeah........better luck with the name next time.

Although a lot of furore has been created nowadays about the attitude of the Government I seriously don't think they are gonna do anything........
A few months ago, a mind-baffling 21 bombs were defused in Surat (an Indian town) . Some were found in garbage bins, some in parks and some even on trees.. !!

But the most shocking scenario was the public reaction. Instead of launching a wake-up drive against the government, people had forgotten the incident within a week !
Compare that to 9/11. People in The US still fear of such an attack and are anti-terrorist in every way. Although the gravity of the siyuations cannot be compared, the frequency of terror activities in India has increased phenomenally.

9/11 was a standout incident that will remain in every one's mind as the day when terrorism took over. But the way things are unfolding in India, it dosen't seem hard to imagine such a situation arising here in the near future.

India being a neighbour to the terror-hotbed Pakistan, is at highest risk of attack right now.
Also, the large number of Muslims residing in the country makes it easy for the terrorists to get away with their heinous acts.

However, so far the attacks of the terrorists have been largely effectless. Although a state of panic does exist for a few areas after an attack, the matter is put to bed in a few days time.

I myself can't remember the exact date when Mumbai's trains were ripped apart by bombs. Being a resident of the city, this is very shameful. Since 9/11 Europe and The US have been on high alert. And there hasn't been a single attack since 9/11 in the US.

The question is, how many more bombs will be needed to wake the Indians up ?

The answer my friend is blowing in the wind. And the wind seems to be blowing very fast around here.

India will need to wake up and fight.

Until then, I think I'll take a nap.

PS : Message to the Terrorists.

Hey guys, please stop bombing us. No matter what you do, we don't seem to be affected. Our own personal problems are too many for us to look into trivial matters such as terrorism. Please do not waste your ammo. Play Halo or Counter-Strike if you want to blow things up. Gears Of War is also a good suggestion.
Adios.

Life in the "not so fast" lane.............

Recently I have realised that my life is a sorry excuse for living.
This might be the case with many college goers and drop outs........... Of lately I haven't been myself. My life has spiralled into a one dimensional search of timepass. Yes. you guys heard me right......timepass.

Instead of doing my daily duties (household chores, college etc etc ...) I desperately try to find ways of whiling away time. Studying has been neglected all together and trips to vacation destinations with friends has become my new aim in life.
This year alone, I have visited Goa three times in the last six months.

I have lost all interest in doing anything productive. The thought of me being a nobody in life is frightening but I just cant seem to resist the urge to waste time.

I haven't felt or been this way ever before........

When I analyse the cause of this stupor, I realise that it is the lack of discipline.
Life just dosen't seem as important anymore. The 'Live in the Moment' philosophy seems to have back fired horribly. My grades in class have gone down and I don't like to pursue hobbies that I used to. Sorts have been neglected due to a medical problem.

In short, my life looks like a complete waste..........atleast as of now.
I might as well check into rehab......if they could treat me for these problems..........

Hope I can find a way out of this labyrinth.

'til then......adios amigos.........I have some not-so-important work to do.

Blogging Virgin......not quite.

Hi to one and all,
this is MetroManiac (MM) with a new blog.

In the past I have tried to blog but have not been regular hence I have failed. My resolution now is to be as regular as possible.

I recently made a trip to Goa.......arriving this morning. The weather was not quite helpful, to make matters worse I had to take care of my cousin who had come down (or rather come up) from Australia.

He turned out to be a sex freak of sorts in Goa. I had to escort him to a pimp so that he could "taste Indian meat". This sentence made me boil from the inside and had he not been my brother, I would have surely broken his limbs.

Anyways, let me get to the point. As I entered the place after having being led through a few of the back lanes of Panjim, I entered a dingy, smoke filled room. The occupants were a few customers ( men who were in their twenties) and two to three pimps. One of the pimps, who had bloodshot eyes, showed us some photos of voluptuous girls.

My cousin, chose the slimmest one and fixed a rate of 4000 for an hour. As both the parties agreed, I waited for the girl to arrive and escort my brother to one of the rooms.

But to my surprise, the pimp asked my brother to come along with him to another location. I vehemently opposed the proposal. My cousin being a foreigner and not knowing the local language was an easy picking for any conman.

My cousin however, assured me that he could take care of himself and accompanied the pimp on his bike. The following half an hour were the most tensed 30 mins of my life.

As my cousin left to satisfy his carnal pleasures, I waited for his return. I could not help but talk to the other pimps. They were all small time pimps who told me that they had been flushed away from Mumbai by the cops there.

One of the pimps even gave me his number, probably hoping to attract more customers. 15 mins later, the pimp who had whisked my cousin away, returned ...........without my cousin.

My adrenaline levels were at an all time high. I was ready to fight any one who looked suspicious in mannerism. the pimp assured me that my cousin was in good company, so I kept my vigour under control.

15 mins later, to my relief, my cousin arrived. Half an hour early.

He was visibly exhausted. His sight made me more comfortable than ever.

We were then dropped off to a near by taxi and we returned to the resort, thanking the gods for our safety.

Next time, maybe Ill try and get laid....;)
